ABOUT US

Explore Lysefjord and Gøysa Gard are run by 3 local families who all live close to Gøysa Gard.
Our goal is to give as many people as possible the opportunity to experience the stunning Norwegian nature, and our cultural heritage that surrounds us.
We go to great lengths to make our guests feel welcome and to make the most out of your visit in our beautiful region.

Explore Lysefjorden saw first light in 2017 as a activity provider, with a goal to gather all activities and adventures in the region in one place. Thia web page was also launched the same year, with several partnerships to provide visitors with a variety of activities.
During the first couple of years, it was obvious that our services were appreciated in the marked, and that visitors to the region found it helpful to find the most popular activities gathered in one place. Good feedback and dialogue with our customers revealed that many visitors headed back to Stavanger after their hike or visit to Lysefjorden. This was often because of lack of places to stay for the night, or even for weeks while exploring the region.

Seeing an opening to provide a valuable service, in 2019 we agreed to buy the beautiful small farm Gøysa Gard. As locals, with good knowledge of the area and this farm, we all knew that this would be a great opportunity for us to create new exciting adventures, and a place for visitors to come and enjoy their hollidays. We also host groups for courses, events, and other gatherings. Gøysa Gard is an Eco-Lighthouse (Miljøfyrtårn) certified business, which means that we focus on sustainable tourism and to leave as small an environmental footprint in nature as possible. We also hope that our guests feel the same way, and help us to do our part. We’re all glad to meet new people and to get to know our guests. If you are staying at Gøysa Gard, you will probably see us out and about making sure everything is ok.

In 2022, we also started providing guided tours in the region, under our company name Explore Lysefjorden. After headhunting and then hiring Erlend – one of the most experienced guides in the region – we are proud to deliver quality service to people who wish to experience Norwegian nature like the locals. Later hiring Stephan, who immediately fell in love with the job and quickly became an invaluable asset to us, they make up the core of our guiding team. However, it must be said we are extremely satisfied with out part-time guides, as well. We thank Terry, Bendikte, Petter, and Christer for their fantastic work for us. All in all, these people make sure that when you book a hike with us, you are in safe and competent hands!

Don’t hesitate to contact us is you have questions, or if you just want to sit down for a cup of coffee and some general information about the area and what to do.

We hope to hear from you
