Capture the beauty of the Lysefjord through your lens! Join our exclusive photo course set against the stunning backdrop of Norway’s majestic fjord landscape!
Have you got an eye for photography and wish to learn more? Are you bored with the scenery at home? Our photo course allows you to combine a learning experience with epic scenery to practice your new knowledge!
Our photography course is designed for beginners and intermediate photographers. The goal is to make you think more like a photographer, to plan your shots better, improve technique, and practice your knowledge in a supportive environment. While you’re learning, you will be staying at a restored historical village, Flørli, in the fjord called the Lysefjord.
In between course hours and active photography sessions, you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of this little village. Participants can stay in twin rooms, or upgrade to single rooms if you so wish.
This tour is an exclusive experience, with room for a maximum of 12 participants per course. That means you get personal attention and individualised guidance.
If you would like to add additional experiences to this activity (e.g. hiking, yoga, RIB safari, beer-tasting etc.), check out our Tailored Private Experience!
DURATION
In total 4 days at Flørli. The photo course itself lasts 14 hours, spread out over 2 days.

DAY PLAN FOR THE PHOTO COURSE
Below you can see how each day is planned.
On Day 1 we welcome you and introduce the place you will be spending the next couple of days. A day for orientation and settling in.
Day 2 and 3 feature a “photo module”, a walk-about, and a review of your photos. Each photo module consists of a lecture with Q&A meant to progress how you understand and plan your photography. During the walk-abouts, we are still learning, but more hands-on. Erlend will be with you and provide help or feedback in the field. In the review sessions, we all sit together and Erlend will go through photos from the day and provide his constructive and supportive feedback.
Day 4 is our last day. Here there is more time set aside for you to just relax and enjoy yourself in the village, and to apply your new skills. There will be a number of optional activities to partake in, as well.

Erlend Berne – Nature guide and photographer
Erlend grew up in the region, on an island (Hundvåg) just outside Stavanger. Ever since he was a boy, he enjoyed being in nature, and photography was a hobby that grew slowly over time. With a Master’s degree in biology and working as a guide since 2016, his passion has become closely connected to his vocation. His photography knowledge grew organically over the years, learning by doing rather than through formal education. Despite this, his skill for the craft is technical as well as artistic.
Hessel Haker – Host at Flørli 4444
Hessel grew up in the Netherlands. After studies of Forestry and Nature Conservation, he decided to do something practical in nature-based tourism. Since 2015, he is tenant of the historic hydropower factory in Flørli and a number of adjacent apartments and service buildings. Hessel has a deep-rooted love for this historic, roadless village on the steep banks of the Lysefjord. Hessel will be the location host, making your evening meals and ensuring your stay will be comfortable and pleasing.
