WEATHER CHANGES
Please check your e-mail or phone on the day of the hike for messages from us. Sometimes the weather gets in the way of a safe hike, and we need to re-schedule or cancel it on short notice. In such a case, we will notify you via text (SMS) and e-mail to the number and address you have provided us upon booking. The weather forecast changes quickly, so there is no point in checking several weeks in advance. Let us worry about that!

Go on a private mushroom hunt with one of our local guides! Seek your quarry in the quiet peace of a dimly lit forest, then enjoy a home made meal based on the harvest!
Collect your own mushrooms, and enjoy a meal using your own harvest, cooked by professionals, at a local restaurant!
The day starts with being picked up by our guide from your preferred location near/in Stavanger. After a roughly 40-minute drive, we arrive at the start of the trail. Here the guide will provide information about the trail, expected conditions, and useful tips for good hiking. When everyone is ready, the hike begins. The pace allows for adequate time to adjust clothes and equipment, time to rest and enjoy snacks, and for taking pictures along the way.
After approximately 30 mins of hiking, we will arrive at one of several secret spots our guides know will produces mushrooms every season. We always make sure to check areas before the day of the hike, to ensure that there are mushrooms to collect. You will not go home empty-handed!
The mushrooms we hunt are chantarelles (Summer Chantarelles: Cantharellus cibarius; Yellow Foot: Craterellus lutescens; and Winter Chantarelles: Craterellus tubaeformis). These are not endangered, they are easy to identify, and DELICIOUS! We collect in a way that is sustainable for future seasons. Respect for nature’s bounty means future bounty is possible!
After collecting our fill, we drive to Villa Rosehagen, where professional chefs will take our carefully scrutinised harvest, and prepare a meal for us right then and there. We can enjoy appetisers provided as they cook, and then taste our own mushrooms. Nothing tastes better than food you collect yourself!
After enjoying the meal, we head back to Stavanger with our souls full of impressions, and stomachs full of good food!

To be eligible for this tour, your ship needs to be in harbour for at least 5 hours.

PICK-UP LOCATION
During booking, you may specify your desired pick-up location in the drop-down menu, or write a custom location in the comment. The location must be within reasonable reach of Stavanger.
PICK-UP TIME
During booking, you may specify your desired pick-up time.
CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS
Your pick-up time must be at/after your scheduled disembarkation time.
DROP-OFF
The tour ends within reasonable reach of Stavanger. The drop-off time will vary between 5-6 hours after your chosen pick-up time. Unless requested otherwise, your guide will drop you off at the same location from which you were picked up.
CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS
Your drop-off time must be at/before your scheduled time for re-boarding. We have extensive experience in tailoring our Preikestolen tour to fit into cruise ship passengers’ limited time schedules, and will make sure you will be back to the harbour in time to re-board.
