Start your day with a hike to Norway’s most famous rock formation!

Even when hiking in the day-time to Preikestolen, there are ways to hike in peace. Our guide can lead you on the path less hiked, so you can enjoy nature rather than crowds.

The day starts with being picked up by our guide from one of several designated locations in Stavanger. After a 40-minute drive, we arrive at the start of the trail (where restrooms are available). Here the guide will provide information about the trail, expected conditions, and useful tips for good hiking. When everyone is ready, the hike begins. If conditions allow it, the guide can take you to hidden spots along the way. The pace allows for time to adjust clothes and equipment, time to rest and enjoy snacks, and for taking pictures along the way.

After approximately 2.5 hours of hiking, we will arrive at Preikestolen, 604 meters right above the legendary Lysefjorden. The sheer cliff face overlooks the fjord, and the panoramic view before us makes for a fantastic reward after all the work it took to get there.

After we have enjoyed the scenery and relaxed for a while, we head back down. It normally takes about 2 hours to get back down to the parking area. Exhausted but satisfied, we get back in the car. As we get driven back to Stavanger, we process our experience of a day well spent.

See additional information to see what you need to bring with you for the hike!

It was an unforgettable day! Our guide Erlend created an atmosphere of friendliness and coziness. We had a wonderful time, made our ascent to Preikestolen very quickly and even managed to have lunch at the base camp and stop at a cool local bakery. I got even more than I expected from this trip. Thank you for this priceless experience!

A wonderful experience from start to finish.
A really phenomenal experience made simple. If you’re looking to hike the Priesteskolen, I recommend asking Stephan to be your guide.

There were only two us on the tour so it felt truly personalised. Stephan ensured he went at our pace and was always on hand to talk about the wonderful nature. He took us up a side route where all you could hear was the sounds of nature alongside some of the most stunning vistas imaginable. We had lunch overlooking the rock and stopped for many photos.

Stephan clearly has a real passion for the job – he was friendly, kind and nothing was too much trouble.

Looking forward to coming back and hiking again with him..

I had an incredible experience hiking Pulpit Rock on a Monday, and despite being the only person on the tour, they didn’t cancel. Stephan, the guide, was punctual and provided tons of valuable information about Stavanger, Pulpit Rock’s history, and various hiking options. He set a comfortable pace, making several stops to explore nature (we saw mushrooms, blueberries, etc.) and take photos. The weather was perfect, and we took two different routes, offering diverse perspectives of the trail. I highly recommend this hike and will definitely come back for another adventure!

Erlend was our guide for the day and he surpassed all our expectations. We took the side trial which was well worth it as we did not encounter many walkers. He ensured the pace of the hike was appropriate to the different levels of the group. Extremely knowledgeable about the trail often pausing to talk about the plants and rock formations on our assent. Highlight for us was the higher climbs to enable us to view the platform from 180 degrees left and right. An amazing family adventure. Thanks for the most amazing experience!
